About

The Associate of Science in Electrical Engineering is a state-recognized Major Related Program (MRP) designed for students who plan to transfer to a Bachelor of Science degree program at a four-year college or university. Entry into many engineering programs is competitive, and students are urged to work closely with TCC advisors and university advisors to ensure all entry requirements are met.

The first two years of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering can be completed at TCC. Students can earn an associate degree to transfer to a Washington state public university. Here is important information about the Electrical Engineering program’s specific requirements

While in high school, students should pursue all of the available courses in mathematics, chemistry, biology, computer programming and physics. Post-high school, students may need to take additional math and science courses to meet requirements.

Career Options

Electrical engineers work primarily in research and development industries, firms, the federal government; and with public or private utilities that generate or distribute electricity. Projects can range from designing a telecommunication system or the operation of electric power stations to the lighting and wiring of buildings, the design of household appliances, any kind of electrical circuitry in computers, phones and more.
